Lublin Ornithological Society

Obraz
The Lublin Ornithological Society was founded in 1992 and currently has about 100 members. The goal of the Lublin Ornithological Society's activities is to learn about the distribution and abundance of birds in the Lublin region, monitoring avifauna against environmental changes, conducting wildlife inventories, awakening environmental interests in the society, ecological education and implementing other activities for nature protection.
In 2018, LTO completed the project “Conservation of rare nest zone protected birds in selected Natura 2000 areas in the Lublin region” (LIFE13 NAT/PL/ 000060). The experience gained in this project in the field of restoring habitats by mowing and shrub removal will allow for the efficient implementation of this type of action in the current project.

At the same time, the project "Active protection of rare animal species in the Solska Forest" (POIS.02.04.00-00-0179 /16) is being carried out, co-financed by the European Union from the European Regional Development Fund under Measure 2.4, priority axis II of OPI & E2014-2020. In this project, LTO introduces grazing to provide suitable habitats for waders. In addition, thanks to the implementation of this project and other LTO activities in the Puszcza Solska Natura 2000 area, it was possible to establish cooperation with local farmers, which will give the opportunity to stop the disappearance of extensive use of meadows in the long-term. LTO has many years of experience in rearing Polish horses.

 Natura International Polska

Obraz
The Natura International Polska Foundation was established in 2008 and contributes to the protection and promotion of natural ecosystems, supporting economic and cultural development as well as the social well-being of local communities. In particular:
  • We undertake specific nature conservation initiatives by using innovative solutions aimed at maintaining the richness and integrity of habitats and species on a landscape scale.
  • We use applied ecology and undertaking comprehensive natural inventories in order to develop the best conservation strategies.
  • We educate and involve local communities in nature protection, promote a sense of responsibility and respect for the natural environment.
Natura International Polska has prepared the National Action Plan for great snipe in Poland as part of the LIFE project completed in 2016 for the conservation of great snipe in the Upper Narew River Valley.

We are characterized by a combination of the following features:
  • We have thorough knowledge and experience in nature protection, both in Western and Eastern Europe, which is why we build effective partnerships and exchange of experience.
  • We work in cooperation with local partners.
  • We operate as a catalyst for nature conservation projects, recognize problems and gaps in conservation activities and try to solve them through mobilization and targeted cooperation.
  • We work with representatives of various sectors, especially local communities, local governments, non-governmental organizations and research institutions, to support the exchange of knowledge and experience.
