Land purchase and restoration of habitats are most important for great snipe
|
Land purchaseGreat snipe is associated with leks, which are set up in the same places every year. Birds gather in so-called lek arenas to display. At the same time, areas around the leks are used for feeding and nesting. Therefore, we can be sure that by buying land around the lek, we provide them with adequate conditions for survival.
In the project, we plan to buy a total of 90 ha of land around the best leks for a total amount of over 1,400,000 PLN, of which the partners' own contribution is about 256,000 PLN. |
Restoration of habitats
The land plots we buy are most often not adapted for the great snipe requirements and require improvements of hydrological conditions and/ or the removal of high vegetation, and often even reed or shrubs. After the restoration, these areas are supported by grazing or mowing, which is financially supported by agri-environmental programs, however the restoration and purchase of animals and infrastructure does not fall within the scope of these payments.
As part of the habitat restoration, we plan to carry out the following treatments:
In total, we are looking for match funding for these tasks in the amount of 560,000 PLN |
